रूटराड़े–Voice of Dogras
RutRaade folk festival of Duggar is celebrated throughout the Jammu region. It starts from Ist day of Aashad & culminates on 1st day of Sharavan of the Bikrami Samvat. This festival exemplifies the symbiotic relationship between प्रकृति/Prakriti and पुरूष/Purush. The Festival also celebrates human relationships and interactions enriching and strengthening the community further. Kharief seeds are sown in pitcher necks which are inserted into the ground and beautifully decorated with natural dry colours. This festival is also celebrated at the time of harvesting, where the girls of the house keep the raade( grains are sown in the rim ) for their brothers. The number of brothers, the girl has, that many number of raade are dug into the ground and rangoli designs are made around them. After the festival is over the raade is taken out and the grain saplings are sown in the fields by the brothers. सकोल्डे/Skolde best described as accessories that are attached to the earrings and hair, are also made by girls at home and on the last day of the Raade when the pots are pulled out, girls dress in their finest, exchanging the home made सकोल्डे/Skolde with their friends.
